Caring & Sharing
all year round

The Christmas Exchange has grown, as we were called upon to help the community at other times of the year.
We have officially rebranded the organization as the Caring and Sharing Exchange to better describe the programs offered by the Exchange.

Hello,

All donations to the Caring and Sharing Exchange make an enormous difference in the lives of low-income families in Ottawa. Thanks to generous people, 25,000 men, women and children in your community were able to celebrate the holidays in 2010. You can give much more than financial assistance for a holiday celebration... You can give these families hope!

sadlady_smallerAs we head into the Fall, Christmas is not that far away. We are asking for your help for families again this year. Families, who through no fault of their own, find themselves in a time of need. Families like Marie's (name has been changed to protect privacy) who asked for help for the first time last year.

Marie's Story

Up until a couple of years ago Marie, her husband and two sons lived a comfortable life and helped those less fortunate when they could. After her husband had heart bypass surgery, he was unable to return to work as a driver.

Marie quoteIn order to keep up with the bills the family was forced to sell their home and move into rental housing. During this period, Marie, who will be celebrating her 40th wedding anniversary this year, had to sell her diamond ring to pay bills and buy food.

Last year, things got worse when her rent increased, leaving her with very little funds to buy food for Christmas, or a gift for her granddaughter. Not knowing where to turn, Marie contacted the Christmas Exchange.

Thanks to the financial gifts of generous donors like you, a food hamper was sent to help the family celebrate the holidays during this difficult time in their lives.
