Collecte de bouteilles vides 201117 224 dollars en bouteilles vides... pour des estomacs pleins!Le 17 décembre 2011, plus de 80 bénévoles et 6 Conseillers/ères de la Ville d'Ottawa étaient situés à l'extérieur de magasins "Beer Store" d'Ottawa dans un froid glacial, à accepter les bouteilles vides de résidents d'Ottawa. Nous avons amassé 17 224 $, qui ont directement servi à fournir des paniers de nouriture et des chèques-cadeau aux gens moins fortunés d'Ottawa, à Noël.

Le déjeuner et la levée de fonds Christmas Cheer 2011
C'est le 8 décembre 2011 qu'a eu lieu la collecte de fonds annuelle de la Fondation Christmas Cheer, amassant plus de 213 000 dollars pour l'aide de Noël! La journée a d'abord commencé par Le Déjeuner Christmas Cheer au Westin d'Ottawa. L'équipe d'animation de CFRA a ensuite "déménagé" dans la Cour Eaton du Centre Rideau, pour Le Radiothon Christmas Cheer. Il y a eu toute la journée du divertissement et des noms de marque présents pour annoncer à haute voix les dons qui se sont faits au cours de la journée. Le programme Partage de Noël était une des trois initiatives reçevant une portion des fonds, cette année encore, ainsi que la Fondation des SENS et la Banque alimentaire d'Ottawa. Notre programme a reçcu une contribution de 45 000 dollars.

Dévoilement du nom de l'organismeLe Partage de Noël prend un pas vers l'avant pour mieux répondre aux besoins dela communauté!On September 13th, 2011, at Ottawa City Hall 2011 mayor Jim Watson officially announced the umbrella name: the Caring and Sharing Exchange, and proclaimed September 13th as the Caring and Sharing Day in Ottawa. “When the Christmas Exchange program began in 1915 it was part of the Ottawa Welfare Bureau”, explained Marilyn Matheson, Executive Director of The Exchange. “We have adopted a new umbrella name for the organization under which to run the Christmas Exchange Program, as well as our other programs such as the Sharing in Student Success Program, to help children get the school essentials required.” The well-known Christmas Exchange program will be raising funds as usual this Fall to help low-income families celebrate the Christmas season. “There was an urgent need to re-brand the organization in order to better describe all the programs that we provide all year round. We are very excited about this historic turning point for the charity.” |

Caring and Sharing Online Charity Auction – April 4th to 18thThe first ever online Caring and Sharing Charity Auction was a success raising over $7,900 for the School Supplies Assistance Program to help provide school essentials to economically disadvantaged children in the Ottawa area. Over 80 items ranging from hotel stays, dinner gift certificates, entertainment gift certificates, and jewellery were available for bidding on www.CaringandSharing.ca. A special thank you goes to our Presenting Sponsor, the Scotiabank Group, and to our other sponsors Dynamic Funds, Ottawa Citizen, The Hellenic Meeting and Reception Centre, and Ottawakiosk.com. Christmas Exchange Card Campaign 2010
This campaign which allowed businesses to make a donation on behalf of their clients and business associates who would than receive a Christmas card from us. This year over $4000 was raised through this campaign. We would like to thank everyone who participated as this helped feed many families in need during the 2010 Christmas season.
Pennies for Portions - November to December 2010
The 16th annual Pennies for Portions saw five primary and elementary schools participate in the campaign in which students collected pennies and other loose change to donate to Christmas Exchange.The kick-off to the Pennies for Portions campaign was held at Sawmill Creek Elementary School. The total amount raised was over $7,000 this year. Our thanks go to all the students, staff and teachers of the participating schools for contributing to the campaign. |

Running on Empties - December 11th 2010
The collection of donated empty beer, wine and liquor bottles from customers at all Ottawa area Beer Stores was another great success raising over $14,000 for our food assistance program. Our thanks to all the Ottawa area Beer Stores and to all the volunteers and service clubs who helped with the collections of donated empty beer, wine and liquor bottles at each store. |

Trees of Hope - November 20th to December 5th 2010
Participating Giant Tiger Stores in Ottawa sold paper Trees of Hope for $2.00 each.and raised over $4000. Proceeds will help those in need during the holiday season.
Shopping & Sweets Fundraiser - December 4th 2010
Shopping and Sweets, a fundraiser which was held for the first year, was very successful and over $1000 was raised for the Christmas Exchange. We would like to extend a special thanks to the organizers of the event, the sponsors and everyone who participated!
20th Annual Christmas Cheer Breakfast and 60th Annual Christmas Cheer Broadcast - December 3rd 2010
The Christmas Cheer Foundation once again hosted a successful Breakfast at the Westin Hotel followed by the annual Christmas Cheer Broadcast on News Talk Radio 580 CFRA at the Rideau Centre. Both events were in support of the Ottawa Food Bank, The Ottawa Senator’s Foundation and Christmas Exchange. A total of $165,000 was raised! |

10th Annual Ottawa's Biggest Bake Sale - October 9th 2010
The 10th Annual Ottawa’s Biggest Bake Sale was a great success! Over $7,000 was raised to help families in need and money was also raised by 13 various organizations including the Ottawa Mission and Breast Cancer Action Ottawa. The bake sale featured a variety of baked goods such as pumpkin pies, assorted cakes and tortes, a variety of festive cupcakes as well as cookies and fudge. There was a great turnout as 13 groups and 17 bakeries participated this year. Congratulations to Jeanine Hall who won a $500 gift certificate courtesy of Billings Bridge Shopping Centre. A Best Tasting Pumpkin Pie Contest was held for the first time! We would like to extend a special thank you to our three judges; Gay Cook, Food Writer & Author, Judson Simpson, Executive Chef House of Commons and Jim Watson. The first place was awarded to the Buttercream Bakery, the second place to Centretown United Church and the third place to Liz Gibbs. And a great big thank you goes out to our sponsors: TD Canada Trust as our presenting sponsor, Billings Bridge Shopping Centre as our venue sponsor, and EMC Ottawa South as our media sponsor. Mother’s Day Brunch – May 9th 2010
The First Annual Mother’s Day Brunch, in partnership with Lifetime Networks Ottawa (LNO) was held at the Ron Kolbus Centre May 9. The event, hosted by local celebrity restaurateur Dave Smith, raised close to $8,000 for both charities. The over 200 guests in attendance attended were served coffee by Mayoral Candidates Alex Cullen and We would like to thank both winners of the draws who donated the proceeds to Christmas Exchange and LNO. We would also like to thank everyone that participated and we are looking forward to holding this event again next year! |

December 2009 - The Gladstone’s Production of ‘A Christmas Carol’
On December 2nd 2009, the Gladstone Theatre provided a preview night of their Christmas production of “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townwomen’s Guild Drama Society’s Production of A Christmas Carol”. With this preview night, supporters, volunteers and the general public were invited to make a donation to Christmas Exchange as admission to preview the show. A collection of $260 was generated for Christmas Exchange.

December 2009 – Yarn Forward & Sew-on Fundraiser
Yarn Forward & Sew-On held a sales promotion at both their locations; 581 Bank St and 474 Hazeldean Rd, which gave customers discount coupons that could be redeemed for 10% discount on selected merchandise in the store. Yarn Forward & Sew-On matched the discounts given with a donation to the Christmas Exchange. Yarn Forward also displayed Christmas Exchange donation boxes on their counters and sold the Christmas Exchange pins at their stores. Together with the sales promotion, they raised $1,675 for Christmas Exchange.
November 2009 – Candy Cane Day at Carlingwood Shopping Centre
Volunteers and VIPs sold candy canes to shoppers for a minimum donation of $2, which included a raffle draw for one of three pairs of Ottawa Senator’s tickets. Close to $2,000 was raised for the Food Assistance Program. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped sell candy canes including the following VIPs – Mayor Larry O’Brien, Councillors Maria McCrae and Marianne Wilkinson, former Mayor Jacquelin Holzman, Max Keeping from CTV Ottawa, and MPP Jim Watson. A special thank you goes to Carlingwood Shopping Centre for providing us with this special day and for the candy canes and the Ottawa Senator tickets.

Nov-Dec 2009 – Pennies for Portions
The 15th annual Pennies for Portions saw nine primary and elementary schools participate in the campaign in which students collected pennies and other loose change to donate to Christmas Exchange. Community groups were also encouraged to participate in the campaign and one community group even donated loose change collected from a children’s Christmas party. The total amount raised was $3,361. Our thanks go to all the students, staff and teachers of the participating schools and to the community group for contributing to the campaign.
Nov-Dec 2009 – Trees of Hope
This year, the Trees of Hope were sold at all Ottawa Giant Tiger stores raising close to $2,800. The paper trees which sold for $2 at each cash register and then were put on display at the participating store enabled the customers to lend their support to the people helped by Christmas Exchange. Thank you to Giant Tiger for their support of this campaign.
December 2009 – Christmas Cheer Breakfast and Christmas Cheer Broadcast on CFRA
The Christmas Cheer Foundation once again hosted a successful Breakfast at the Westin Ottawa which was a sell-out event followed by the annual Christmas Cheer Broadcast on CFRA at the Rideau Centre. Both events were in support of the Ottawa Food Bank, The Ottawa Senator’s Foundation and Christmas Exchange of which Christmas Exchange received close to 25% of the proceeds.

The 10th Annual Ottawa’s Biggest Bake Sale was a great success again in 2009. Thanks to all the volunteers, notables such as MP‘s David McGuinty and Paul Dewar, and the countless bakeries and community groups, we raised $8400! The bake sale featured plenty of pumpkin pies, fresh baked bread, chocolate chip muffins and more! Congratulations to Lois Jordan who won a $500 gift certificate courtesy of Billings Bridge Shopping Centre.

September 2009 – The 2nd Annual Caring and Sharing Charity Auction
A big thank you to all who supported the Second Annual Caring and Sharing Charity Auction held at the Hellenic Meeting & Reception Centre! It was a HUGE success raising $55,000!
The event ran smoothly thanks to our many volunteers and featured a tasty dinner, an energetic live auction (awarding prizes such as a trip to Hollywood to tour the set of The Young and the Restless), and a chance to socialize with some important VIPs such as Senator Mike Duffy, who was Honourary Chair, Dave Smith who was auctioneer, Max Keeping from CTV and Adrian Harewood from CBC.

July 2009 –The 4th Annual Christmas in July
We would like to extend our sincere thank you to all those who attended the 4th Annual Christmas in July on July 8th at the Fallowfield Transit Station. The breakfast BBQ event was once again a success raising $2,700 for the Christmas Exchange Food Assistance Program to help individuals and families receive a decent meal around the December holiday season.
We would also like to thank Police Chief Vern White, Superintendent Mike Flanagan, Councillor Steve Desroches and Alain Mercier, General Manager of OC Transpo and of course Santa Claus for joining us at the event and helping to make it a success.
